Northwest Bank

Founded in 1896, Northwest Bank is a full-service financial institution offering a complete line of business and personal banking products, employee benefits and wealth management services, as well as the fulfillment of business and personal insurance needs. Northwest Bank operates 164 full-service community banking offices in Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio.

Problem

In 2015, Northwest Bank was in the process of acquiring another financial institution and recognized a need for assistance with managing the migration of digital content from multiple systems at the acquired bank.

“We quickly recognized the complexity of the migration and, with a very aggressive timeline, we decided to enlist additional resources to ensure we would meet project objectives with minimal disruption to the business and our customers.” said Mark King, electronic records manager at Northwest Bank.

“Beyond the acquisition in front of us, we also knew there was a distinct possibility that there could be additional acquisitions in the near term. We wanted to find a partner that could support our data migration needs moving forward.”

Why NXTsoft

Northwest Bank began its search for a partner that had experience working on conversion projects involving varied systems and familiarity with its ECM, Nautilus. Northwest CIO, Andrew Young, was familiar with NXTsoft as a leading provider of image and data migrations and conversions and recognized a potential good fit.

“As soon as we started talking to NXTsoft, we saw that they had a broad working knowledge of systems, conversions and the various challenges we might encounter. They’d been there and done that,” said King. “We made NXTsoft part of our migration team. They understood the importance of being involved right from the beginning and made a point to be available for initial technical discussions with the acquired bank providing important insights.”

Outcome

Northwest Bank was able to find the true partner it was looking for in NXTsoft. The technology provider has been an asset to the success of Northwest Bank’s acquisition strategy and its overall data management strategy through the help of the OmniData OmniView Browser.

“NXTsoft is very easy to work with and attentive to our needs. We really feel like we have not just another vendor but a partner working with us,” said King. “We didn’t approach our work with NXTsoft as a one-off engagement but as part of a process of building a relationship that would serve us both well over time, and time has shown that’s exactly what’s developed.”

Not only that, but Northwest Bank has seen its projects continue to improve as its relationship with NXTsoft matures.

“One of the things we appreciate about NXTsoft is that we feel they really listen to our feedback. With each project we tackle, we see them strengthen their capabilities and approaches to better meet our needs – we see results,” said King. “From a document migration standpoint we are far better positioned to march into a conversion project today than we were just a couple of years ago,” said King. “I know Northwest hasn’t encountered every scenario out there, but I certainly have confidence that with NXTsoft we’ll be able to tackle what’s thrown our way. Really at this point, I can’t wait to get to the next acquisition.”

“Perhaps the biggest soft benefit of working with NXTsoft is the peace of mind Northwest staff now enjoy regarding an area that was once a significant source of concern.”
